Damage Breakdown

The incoming damage on this fight is mostly controllable by us. Every cycle, the boss puts out 3 sets of 4 debuffs which spawn shades when dropped (12 shades per cycle).
Whilst alive, these shades pulse AoE damage which hits quite hard at a higher shade count.
In each cycle, there are 2 sets of Decimate debuffs which can be used to break the shades. At the end of each cycle, the boss casts Shattering Sweep which breaks any remaining shades. Breaking a shade does a raid-wide DoT for a few seconds.
It's up to us how many shades we break with Decimate. In the vod, they break 3 shades per decimate and then let the boss break the remaining 6.
It means the damage breakdown is mostly controlled by us, and the timers to look at are more Decimate/Sweep timers.
Disc Viability
A better way of looking at timers is boss casts:

You can break shades at 00:52, 1:20, and the boss will break all remaining shades at 1:36.
In the second cycle it's 2:35, 3:03, then all at 3:13.
In the third cycle it's 4:12, 4:40 and then all at 4:51.
The Twitch vod below breaks 3/3/6, but this does put extra stress on the raid as you're keeping more shades alive for longer (the ticking damage hurts). The WCL below breaks 6/2/4 which eases the stress earlier.
Either approach are excellent for Disc as we can Evang whenever we break the majority of shades - the timings are perfect.
Disc wants a Big break / Small break / Big break across the 3 boss abilities rather than Big/Big/Small so that they can mini ramp.
The ticking damage is very relevant, especially when it overlaps with a break. I think Disc is excellent at dealing with the breaks but you need good throughput for the ticking damage and Disc is bad at that.
Things to watch for
The ramps depend on the raid strategy and how we break!
Breaking shades with decimate requires good shade placement and players with brains - not always guaranteed to hit the breaks you want.

Changelog
27th July - checked new raid testing but couldn't see anything that changes the above.
